Our next stop was Boracay Beach in Malay, Aklan.
We decided to go via the long route this time, arriving by plane at Kalibo airport and going by land transfer through the plains and mountains of the island of Aklan. It was a very quiet and simple life as far as the eye can see.
Our excitement jumped the moment we could see the water. Of course this beach's reputation precedes itself. The sand is just fantastic, and you can
never run out things to do whether on the water or on the sand. We went beach hopping and snorkeling (of course the variety of marine life in Boracay doesn't come close to that of Puerto Galera). Jeff got to see parts of the island he didn't get to see the first time he was there. I got to see how everything has improved in terms of service when it came ot those beach hopping tours. We went for long walks (in search for "the perfect earrings") and tried our hand at riding a banana boat. We even had henna drawn on us.
Note to self for the next time: find accommodations in Station 1. Everywhere else is just too crowded. It wasn't quite that we hoped for-- we were just too busy with our activities to focus on each other. But we certainly had a lot of activities and souvenirs to show for our efforts.
Of course my birthday celebration was fun too... And the moments of inactivity were equally precious. It truly feels like being back home. And it is those quiet moments at the one home that I've known for so long that I miss the most.
